Edition #50 MusclesNmorsels Newsletter

Coming Up Next!

These 2 listings below are still on the dock to be visited over the next 2 weeks. Stand by for more info after we visit these amazing local spots and experience them in full! In the meantime, go check them out for yourself as well and please share your visits and experiences with the rest of us!

Angoria Hotel-

This Friday and Saturday nights- Let us know if you are in the area and want to stop by and join us by the pool or hot tub or the bar for a drink. I am happy to meet all of you local followers of the newsletter!

Pulgaso Taco Festival-

This Saturday (Stacy and I will be judging this event!) - Also be sure to let us know if your attending so we can cross paths and meet you. Taco people are our people!

Second Anniversary Weekend in FBG

Wifey and I spent Friday evening to Sunday afternoon in one of our favorite Texas cities for our second-year anniversary celebration. Fredericksburg of course! Great food, wine, shopping, and German culture, and museums to feed anyone's needs! We packed a lot of activity into less than 3 full days so I won't write a novel about it here but I will mention the key spots we hit on this trip to make sure you put these places on your next trip to FBG as well!

You will see we ate well and drank well also, but man did we get some steps! Stacy hit ~16,000 steps Saturday and I hit almost 18,500 due to a morning run which in hindsight, probably did not even need! Sunday we also hit nearly that many steps, AGIAN!

National Museum of the Pacific War-

Been here twice now. The first time was solo where I spent 2 hours in just the Admiral Chester Nimitz exhibit. This time we spent about that much time looking over the WWII in the Pacific history displays and sections including an additional hour down the road at the Pacific Combat Zone. Amazing place for a war history buff like me! Kids would enjoy this as well I bet!

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area-

My 3rd time here and 2nd time with my wife. Get your glutes burning by taking on 1-mile distance and 415' of elevation to hit the summit of the rock. Lucky for us it was cool and overcast vs sunny and hot as has been in the past. You get hot quickly going up this rock! Stacy found the most appropriate puddle formation ever in the rock which we now call, 'The Love Heart.' Mind you that this area has an additional 15 miles of hiking paths around and up the rock. Just a 20 minute drive from our hotel at that, highly suggest outdoorsy types go see this!

Friedhelms Bavarian Inn/Restaurant-

See this link for a short IG video of the view inside and the delicious entrees we got on our dinner visit. Or see this link for my Nov 2020 solo first time visit to this same place. Easy to see why it's my favorite German restaurant in Texas now?

Pontotoc Wine Garden-

Another 2nd time visit for us. Why? Great wine, great sangria(best in town according to Stacy), amazing little wine garden sitting next to the oldest building still in use in the entire city dating to 1841! The owner-couple Karl and Frances are amazing people as well.

Coordinates Wine Room-

South African Wines, swanky back patio with fire pits, rad interior with big couches, huge fireplace, stone walls. All 2 blocks from our hotel... why would I not go here? The pinotage here is some of the best I have had anywhere. They also have a new tasting room recently opened out in Hye Texas as well!

Nury's On Main-

First time visit far overdue. Right on Main Street. This quaint little place specializes in Mexican Seafood dishes and killer cocktails (and wine of course) Wife and I got to try this goodness and we approve! I got the Med Salad with a glass of Canyon Gray Pinot Noir and my wife did the Enchiladas Verdes. See why we love this place now? Priced very affordable for the portions and quality.

Andreducci Tasting Room-

Finally knocked this one off my list! One block from our hotel at that! Focusing on their family line of Italian wine grapes, you can feel like you're in Italy when sipping wine here. I got a glass of Cassavecchio (chianti) and loved it!

The Sunday House Hotel-

Our nice little hotel is right on Main Street and Elk Street near the eastern end of town but nicely positioned within walking distance of every spot we went to other than our drive to Friedhelms at the farthest west end of Main St. Being so close to the main drag was nice as parking can be a hassle here on weekends. We also wound up hitting ~18,00 and ~16,00 steps for myself and my wife respectively on Saturday and nearly as much Sunday as well! We burned off about as much as we put down for sure!

iBuy App is here!

I'm gonna mention this one more time because I truly want this new app to help me do more of what I do already... help great local food and drink businesses get found and help local foodies like me find them and experience them. Plus it saves people money and it helps us all shop locally. For all the details about the app please read my short article here.

Local Food Finds

The major food find I came across in town recently was at the mall of all places. Across from Chick-Fil-A the new Smoothie Bae (before anything else) is just opening and so far I like what I see and taste. More staple food items to come soon but for now I can tell you for sure, the oatmeal bowls are amazing! I got the PB & J Bae and it was solid! I could eat that every morning and be a happy camper. Very good portions and great prices on these oat bowls. Acai bowls, Power Greens Bowls, and more are also available as well.

2025 Kickoff Email Newsletter I am taking a new approach this year to the newsletter email that you all subscribe to (thank you for that!) with a more shorthand form of what is going on in the CV food and drink scene. I will do my best to put out a short and brief weekly update of the new places I have been and am going in the coming week. I will even include places I have been to before but try new dishes or items at since its still new in a sense. I have gotten busy and remain quite busy...

Introduction It has been 2 weeks now since our return from our 10 day vacation of which 7 was spent onboard the Carnival Luminosa cruise ship. We spent time in Alaska primarily with a couple stops in Canada as well. Additionally, we spent 3 days total in Seattle prior to and after our cruise to savor a bit of the Emerald City while in the area. I wont go too much into that here as this newsletter is of course, all about the CV area and all that goodness. Check out my personal Facebook page to...
