San Angelo Local EatsIn the past weeks the local spot that got my attention again, was the tried and true Cork & Pig Tavern where the wife and I did another dinner visit where we never leave hungry or disappointed. See what good we got on this visit below. The other local person I got to finally go out and try for myself, knowing that it was his goods for once, is Bigfoot BBQ. I have judged his BBQ before 3 times at local events he was entered into as a vendor but, since all BBQ contests are blinded, I never knew which one of 20 was his. I wanted to go out and finally, at long last try Mr. Scott Gideons smokey goods to see if the hype and rumors I heard about it began amazing or not were accurate. I had heard many things about Scotts Q but never had the ability to judge it on its own myself since I never had it head on. That has changed now. Regarding his brisket anyway... wow! Amazing! Pecan smoked, lean, perfected smoke ring, tender, flavorful. All round good! I like my brisket leaner than most, I also like pecan wood smoking methods. Scott nails those components big time! I wish you had scratch and sniff for this photo as your missing half the punch without the amazing aroma this 11lb brisket had coming off it. I now need to go back and try more of his BBQ food options to see how those stack up as well. Chit Chat with a local This past week I caught up with head coffee roaster of Free Rein Coffee Co (formerly Longhorn Coffee Co) Crystal Glaspie to catch up with her after almost exactly 2 years since our first interview held in edition 3 of the newsletter back in June 2022! See what's new and what she has accomplished in that time with this newly branded company. Listen to the audio recording here. Goodbye Walt and MG KoenigAs noted above, we are losing our Chamber President Walt, and his amazing wife MG . On June 1, Walt stepped down from his role to enjoy his retirement as he so rightfully deserves. Walt and MG gave us 4 good years of service and growth to the city to include its new Chamber members, the food and beverage industry expansion, the bigger festivals and events we hold each year, and some great friendship to me and many, many other locals of San Angelo. I will miss him at ribbon cuttings and local events for sure as will many. But I have every intent to keep our friendship alive and well in the months and years to come. Swing on by the Martial Pint this evening from 5-7pm to say goodbye and thank you to Walt and MG. Are you using the new iBuy App yet? You should be! 2025 Kickoff Email Newsletter I am taking a new approach this year to the newsletter email that you all subscribe to (thank you for that!) with a more shorthand form of what is going on in the CV food and drink scene. I will do my best to put out a short and brief weekly update of the new places I have been and am going in the coming week. I will even include places I have been to before but try new dishes or items at since its still new in a sense. I have gotten busy and remain quite busy...

Introduction It has been 2 weeks now since our return from our 10 day vacation of which 7 was spent onboard the Carnival Luminosa cruise ship. We spent time in Alaska primarily with a couple stops in Canada as well. Additionally, we spent 3 days total in Seattle prior to and after our cruise to savor a bit of the Emerald City while in the area. I wont go too much into that here as this newsletter is of course, all about the CV area and all that goodness. Check out my personal Facebook page to...
